The Company Christmas Party (Part 2 of 5)

It only took a few years for KSL-TV to get a little tired of doing the TV show and so did we. After you have seen yourself on TV with Santa once, it doesn’t get much more exciting. So KSL decided to have a Christmas party with sleigh riding, snowmobiling, hot chocolate, chili, presents, and of course a visit from Santa.
The usual site for this Christmas party was a golf course located in a canyon above Salt Lake right next to Interstate 80. The club house of the golf course was very close to the freeway and the course sloped down which made it an excellent sleigh riding hill. I used to lay awake nights a few months before the party just thinking of all the fun I was going to have on that hill.
We usually went to two parties a year there. KSL-TV held its party before Christmas and KSL-Radio had its party after Christmas. Since my dad worked for both TV and radio, we went to both. It was a double does of chili, hot chocolate, presents from Santa, and sleigh riding. Some years they provided bus transportation for us. We met in front of KSL’s studios where we caught a chartered bus for the golf course. My dad usually went earlier, since he needed to take the KSL snowmobiles up the canyon. But my mom, my sisters, and I took the bus. It was fun to take the bus since we never knew what to expect. One year the bus pulled over to the side of the rode to pick up a hitch hiker, and who do you think it was? It was Santa himself!
