When Mom rang the dinner bell, it sounded like this, “Ding-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling-a-ling.” But when dad rang it, the bell sounded like this, “Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!” Dad usually rang the dinner bell only two times, for family prayer in the morning and for the start of Family Home Evening on Monday nights. There was one exception, and that was that he rang it for a family pow wow.
“Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!”
If we ever heard that sound, and it wasn’t 6:45 in the morning nor Monday night, we knew we were going to have a pow wow.
Some families have family council, others have a rap session, still others just get together and chat. Our family had pow wows.
