Sunrise Service (Part 2 of 3)

Dad pulled into the Murray City Cemetery which was just a mile from our house. By coincidence it was also where our great-great-grandfather was buried. Many tombstones stuck way out of the ground but most were just flat. The grass was light green contrasting with the dark pine trees. Some Easter mornings were cloudy and rainy. They were beautiful mornings too, but this morning was even more beautiful. The sun was just up and a slight morning mist was present.
Dad stopped the car and said Mom would conduct the meeting. We tried to get Christopher to settle down so we could pay attention. Mom led us in a song:

In the Morning, in the Garden
Birds were singing soft and low.
Flowers nodded, grasses glistened
as if to say “We Know, we Know!
“Christ is risen, Christ is risen
“All the earth is glad again.
“Christ is risen, Christ is risen
“And all men, shall live again.”

Then Vera gave the prayer. Afterward, Mom spoke, “It says in the scriptures that everyone will die. You can see these stones on the ground.” She pointed out the car window at the tombstones. “All those stones have someone under them that has died. The scriptures say that all those people will come back to life. And they will be resurrected because Jesus was resurrected. That’s why we celebrate Easter.”
