Strobe Light (Part 2 of 2)

There is nothing like the contrast between a dark room and a flash of light. We got up and started to dance around the room. The blinking light made us look like we were in slow motion. We had fun while bumping into each other and crashing into walls and furniture. It is interesting to sit in the living room and try to outsmart the strobe light. You can blink your eyes in sync with the strobe light so it is always light when you have your eyes open, or you can be slightly out of sync and see only darkness when you open your eyes. The hardest thing is to play catch with a ball. Your eyes play tricks on you as the ball comes sailing for your face. You reach up to catch the ball, but no, the ball is not where you last saw it, it is now bouncing off your head!
After a few minutes to see how his kids where enjoying the new toy, Dad got an idea to take the strobe light around the neighborhood. He did this with every novelty he had. Once he even took Karen all over the place to have her show off a song she had learned to play by ear on the piano.
In a few moments Dad had unplugged the light, wrapped it up and was out the door to see who else in the neighborhood would like to play with it. After that Dad stored his strobe light in an old ice cream bucket. He must have gone to everyone’s house in the neighborhood. He had a great time showing off his new toy, but he always remembered to let us kids enjoy the fun of it too.
