Camping With Christopher (Part 2 of 4)

At night we would get ready for bed and slide into our sleeping bags. Without foam cushions or air mattresses it was hard to lay just anywhere. We tossed and turned to get comfortable since we had to find the best place to lay.
Mom had put Chris in a makeshift crib on the tent floor, but by the time we were all getting sleepy, Chris was ready to get up and go again.
He ran around the inside of the tent and crawled over people who were trying to sleep. We finally fell asleep from sheer exhaustion, but Chris was up and going strong late into the night. The next day we woke up and Chris was sprawled out on top of Mom and Dad’s sleeping bag. The only thing that kept him warm during the night was the bright red sleeper he was wearing.
Once when we went camping, Chris and I were assigned to my little orange pup tent. At least for some people, the problems of Christopher’s midnight escapades were solved. For me I thought it was neat that we had a “boy” tent. On a previous camping trip Karen and Julie had fixed the pup tent like a little home. They spent hours making a rock path to it and placed flowers all around. But when Christopher became a permanent fixture of our camps, they were glad to yield their cute tent to the boys. Everyone who slept in the big tent was glad that Chris wasn’t there to disrupt their sleep.
